Your Playing Small Does Not Serve the World

“Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine. We were born to manifest the glory that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Self-doubt can cause us to shrink into ourselves. We do not fully express ourselves out of some deep fear that we won’t fit in, be accepted, or because it might bring about some other kind of failure. Maybe we should be focusing on fitting out…standing out. On being completely in-line with who we really are.

You were meant to shine.

Who do you truly want to be? A world-traveler? Best-selling author? A yogi? Loving mother and wife? James Beard Award Winner? The next Tiger Woods? A millionaire?

So today is the day, you are going to have to go for it. Put yourself out there. Send out a resume, write a book proposal, sign up for that dance class, write up your business plan, take your first golf lesson, enroll in your teacher training, call up that person you’d love to hang out with!

because like I said…
