Quotes to Inspire You Every Winter

Winter can be a challenging time, schedules get disrupted due to weather, the days are shorter, and we get less sun and Vitamin D, our happy vitamin. We need to stay happy, inspired, and motivated, no matter what the season. Here are some quotes that help me remember to be at my best even when its cold out, I can’t find my other glove, and my car can’t leave the driveway.

Snowy Days

“In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in my an invincible summer.” -Albert Camus

“Winter is a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and every idle hour.” -John Boswell

“People don’t notice whether it is winter or summer when they’re happy.” -Anton Chekov

“The days are getting colder, have a warm heart.”

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” -Anne Bradstreet

One kind word can warm three winter months” -Japanese Proverb

O Winter! ruler of the inverted year…I crown thee king of intimate delights, fireside enjoyments, home-born happiness, and all the comforts that the lowly roof of undisturbed retirement, and the hours of long uninterrupted evening, know.” William Cowper

and my favorite

Lets book a vacation somewhere warm.” -Me

Grow Your Life: Ways to Grow Your Relationships, Business, and You

“If a relationship is not growing, if a business is not growing, if you’re not growing, it doesn’t matter how much money you have in the bank, how many friends you have, how many people you love- you’re not going to experience real fulfillment. And the reason we grow, I believe, is so we have something of value to give.” Tony Robbins

Grow Your Relationships: Do something new together, share a secret, forgive, learn from the other person, focus on how you can give, let go of expectations, do something loving every chance you get, say thank you

Grow Your Business: Offer something new, have a certain percentage of profits go to charity, get better at what you do, accept that you can’t do everything, hire help, learn more about your business, write an article, try something new, start an online store, start a blog, take yourself seriously, get organized, commit to growth, set intentions, practice consistency, make and take action steps, be open to new opportunities, grow yourself.20150104_125116

Grow Yourself: Meditate, do yoga, exercise, practice awareness, learn things, do a detox, hire a coach, journal, reflect, laugh, take a class, do the things you’ve been meaning to do, value your health, value others, take risks, be honest with yourself and others, face fears, go after your dreams, read books, be open-minded, spend time in nature

12 Notes on Health that Will Surprise You

Have you ever been in a room with over a thousand happy, inspired people?

It feels like flying. It is expansive. It is empowering.

I am so thankful that I was invited to attend the  IIN event live over the weekend. I think anytime you have the opportunity to surround yourself with smiling, smart, supportive, high-reaching people who intend and are making a positive impact on the world you should jump at the chance, in whatever capacity you can, leaving every and any excuse behind. Actually, I think you should make sure these are the types of people you surround yourself with constantly. Community, as it was reconfirmed over the weekend, plays a huge role in health and happiness and we all deserve to be surrounded by people that lift us up to our highest potential.

Speaker after speaker doled out information. How do sleep, sugar, soil, happiness, loneliness, fear, purpose, stress, success, relationships, and of course, nutrition, impact health? Their advice was full of wisdom, facts, and soul. Nothing compares with being there in person, but here are just a few gems I took away from this weekend:

1.”The truth is that what we eat is a dialogue about who we believe we are to ourselves and to the world.” Pete Evans

2.”No amount of kale is going to counteract chronic stress.” Lissa Rankin, MD

3.”The most shocking thing is that you don’t learn anything about nutrition in medical school.” Dr.Oz

5.”No clinical trials on diet soda show benefit for weight loss.” Dr. Oz

6.”Telling the truth and doing what you love is the best antidepressant.” Mastin Kipp

7.”Food is medicine or poison, its your choice.” Pete Evans

8.”Let go of something to sleep instead of taking something…Sleeping pills increase risk of cancer more than smoking.” Dr.Rubin Naiman discussing the importance of sleep and its link with nutrition.

9.”How much and the quality of your sleep will affect nearly every aspect of your daily life: immunity, stress management, weight, aging, risk of disease, hormones and more.” Keri Glassman.

10. “Time is your most precious non-reliable resource.” Marie Forleo

11.”Whats good for the planet is good for us. . .Don’t put anything on your body, in your house, on your car…that you wouldn’t eat, because eventually you will” Daphne Miller, MD talking about the impact of soil on health.

12.”Relationship is the most important stone (foundation). A life filled with love and support can overcome a lot of things.” Lisa Rankin, MD
